Proposed Pixar References

1. Monsters, Inc. & Monsters University
These films are strong visual references for the level of character design and animation complexity we’re aiming for. Each character is crafted with intricate 3D detail — from the fine strands of fur and subtle eye reflections to the skin textures and nuanced movements that bring them to life. The characters in Monsters, Inc. and Monsters University showcase Pixar’s mastery of realism within stylised animation — every detail contributes to personality, believability, and emotional depth.

2. Inside Out & Inside Out 2
These films serve as references for conceptual and emotional characterisation. Each emotion — such as Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust — is represented by a distinct, fully realised character, giving abstract feelings a tangible and relatable form. This approach allows complex internal states to be visualised in an engaging, cinematic way. Similarly, our project will use character design and animation to personify emotions, ideas, or inner experiences, ensuring that each one has a unique visual identity, personality, and animation style that reflects its emotional essence.
